Blue Anchor Psychology is a group private practice offering a one-year post-doctoral fellowship in psychology beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year. Preference will be given to individuals who are open to a two-year commitment with a pay increase from the first to second year following licensure. Postdoctoral fellows will have opportunities to earn certificates in sex therapy and couples therapy and will be in a position to pursue certification in sex therapy. The fellowship will offer a flexible schedule and a warm, supportive environment. Fellows will also learn about the business components of running a practice and will have opportunities to take on growth and development roles in the practice. This will be a hybrid position, with remote and in-person components at our Manhattan and/or New Jersey locations.

Job Description

The post-doctoral fellowship is available to graduates of doctoral programs in clinical and counseling psychology programs. Post-doctoral fellows will receive all necessary supervision to be eligible for licensure in NY and NJ. Blue Anchor Psychology has a mission to provide quality outpatient mental health services to individuals and couples. Fellows will receive experience in the following areas: 

● Evidence based therapies for general outpatient care. Fellows will see patients presenting with a range of mental health concerns, including, anxiety, mood, OCD, trauma, adjustment, and personality disorders. 

● Assessment and treatment of male and female sexual disorders. 

● Treating compulsive or out-of-control sexual behaviors. 

● Couples therapy 

● Group therapy 

● Training in CBT, ACT, MBCT, ExRP, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and IBCT. 

● Blogging, public speaking, and presentations. 


The post-doctoral fellowship will run for one year from the start date. The start date is flexible and may begin following the conclusion of the fellow’s pre-doctoral internship. A full-time post-doctoral fellow will be expected to see 20-25 therapy cases and 1-2 groups per week in addition to supervision, didactic, and administrative responsibilities. Fellows are expected to have 2 evenings available for patient care. Additional responsibilities include blog writing and presentations. Compensation: Compensation for the first year of the fellowship is $60,000-$80,000. Additional benefits include paid vacation and sick leave, a 401k (practice match for the second year), healthcare stipend, and a flexible schedule. For fellows who continue for a second year, compensation increases to $80,000-$110,000.

Qualifications

Applicants must have completed an APA accredited doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology and have completed an APA accredited internship. Applicants must also have defended their dissertations prior to the start-date. Preference will be given to applicants who have background in CBT, ACT, DBT, MBCT, or Compassion Focused Therapy. Preference will also be given to applicants who have previous couples therapy or sex therapy experience. However, highly qualified candidates without these backgrounds will also be considered.
